Move-ups

A board of your rooms, youngest first, that shows who has aged out of their room and moves them up on the day you choose.

For directors and admins

The board

In the director portal, open Rooms & ratios → Move-ups. There's a column for each classroom, youngest first, and a card for each child with their age and:

  • Ready to move up: they're past their room's ages with nothing planned.
  • Ready soon: they'll age out within 60 days, with nothing planned.
  • Any move planned for them, with its date.

Each room also lists who is moving in and when. A room's ages come from its age group, set under Classrooms; see Classroom settings.

Moving a child up

Drag a child to another room, or press Move up on their card. Pick the room they're moving to, then When:

  • Today, right now. RoundUp checks the new room's capacity and staff-to-child ratio first, the same check as moving children on Classrooms, and refuses a move that would put it over either. Nothing is changed when a move is refused.
  • On a date. It starts on the day the child ages out of their room, and you can pick any day.

Moving a child changes the classroom on their profile, so attendance and ratios follow them from then on.

Scheduled moves

Early on the day, the child moves to the new room by themselves. If the room would be over capacity or out of ratio, nothing moves, and the plan waits on the board as Due for you to sort out.

Telling the family

Tell the family emails the main parent and sends a parent app notification that their child has moved up. Leave it unticked and nothing is sent. The board says afterwards whether the email went out, or why it didn't (no parent email on file, for example).

Upcoming and recent

Below the board, Upcoming move-ups lists planned moves with Move now, Reschedule and Cancel move; due ones are flagged. Recently moved up lists moves that have happened, and whether the family was emailed.

Looking ahead

Show the board on a later date (in 1, 3 or 6 months, or a date you pick) draws the rooms as they'll be once the planned moves have happened. It's for planning; switch back to Today to move anyone. The Enrollment forecast counts the same plans.

Transitions in the app

Plans on the board are the same records as the app's Operations → Room Transition, so a plan made in either shows in both. Marking a transition completed in the app doesn't move the child; moving on the board does. See Field trips and other operations tools.
