Your first shift in RoundUp
Signing in, the five tabs, picking your room, and the habits that keep a shared tablet honest.
Signing in for the first time
Your director adds you to RoundUp, and you get an email inviting you to join your center.
- Open the invitation Tap Set my password & sign in. The link lasts 7 days. If it has run out, ask your director to resend it.
- Choose a password On the Activate your account page, enter a password of at least 8 characters twice and tap Activate account.
- Sign in to the app Open RoundUp, enter your email, tap Continue, then enter your password and tap Sign in.
If your center signs staff in with a work account, the app shows a Sign in with button naming it once you've entered your email. Use that instead of a password.
Work at more than one center? More → Switch center moves between them.
Teacher, lead or assistant
Classroom staff are set up as Teacher, Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher. All three get the same access in RoundUp. The title tells your team who leads the room; it doesn't open anything extra.
By default you can see every child in the center. If your director has limited classroom access, you'll see only the children in the classroom you're assigned to. Enrollment, billing and center settings stay with directors.
Finding your way around
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Today | What needs doing now, and how the day is going. |
| Classroom | Your room's children, check-in and check-out, and shortcuts such as Care Logs and End of Day. |
| Messages | Conversations with families, and staff chat. |
| Care | Feedings, naps, diapers, meals, potty training and medication. |
| More | Everything else, including Daily Reports, Move Room, Photos & Albums, Learning, Settings and Sign Out. |
Messages and Care only appear if your center uses them. On a tablet the tabs run down the left-hand side, and the first one is called Home.
The Today page
On a phone, Today opens with how many children are here, how many rooms are in ratio, and a warning if a room is near its limit.
Under Needs you are up to three things worth doing next: Finish morning attendance while children aren't in yet, Daily reports to complete, Allergy awareness, Unread messages or an Upcoming event. Tap one to go straight there. Inbox opens Today at a glance: children checked in, not in yet, ratio status, pending incidents, unread messages and staff on duty.
Tablets use a wider layout, with shortcuts for New Report, Calendar, Classrooms and Messages.
Choosing your room
If your director assigned you a classroom, the Classroom tab opens on it. When you're working somewhere else, tap the room name at the top of that tab and pick the room under Change Room. RoundUp confirms with Now viewing and the room's name, and your Daily Reports list follows the same room.
The room you pick is remembered on the device, not on your account. On a shared tablet, check the room name before you start: it may still be set to wherever the last person was.
More → Move Room moves your clock-in to the room you pick, so your center's ratios count you where you actually are. If you're not clocked in, it says so and nothing counts you until you are. It also keeps a History of moves made on that device, which Clear history empties. To change what the Classroom tab shows, use the room name at the top of the Classroom tab.
Clock in first
Clock in as soon as you arrive, into the room you're working in. A room's ratio only counts staff whose time clock shows them in that room, so a teacher who forgets looks, on paper, like a missing adult. See Clocking in and out.
Switching the room you're looking at doesn't change the room on your time clock. If you've moved rooms for the rest of your shift, tell your director.
Shared tablets
- Sign in as yourself. Daily report entries, medication doses and potty logs record who made them. Care logged under someone else's name says the wrong person did it.
- Sign out when you hand over. RoundUp doesn't sign anyone out on its own. Sign Out is at the bottom of More.
- Check the room. The room choice belongs to the device, so it carries over from the last person.
On your own phone, More → Settings → Account has a Biometric login switch. With it on, RoundUp asks for your face or fingerprint when you come back to it after more than a minute away.
Getting help
Your director can fix most things fastest: a missing room, the wrong title, a child who isn't showing. For problems with the app itself, go to More → Settings → About → Support, say what you tapped and what happened, and we'll reply by email.
